Lake - Bull Shoals 10/31/04 :
Dam area to Lead Hill: Still catching most of the fish on a
Jewel football or spider jig in 15' to 25' of water, the best colors are still
PB&J or brown / purple flash with a green pumpkin twin tailed grub for
a trailer. Hold the boat in 30' - 40' of water, make a long cast and and drag
it all the way back to the boat paying close attention to any rocks or wood
cover you drag the bait across. There is a spinnerbait bite up on these same
flats if the wind is blowing, throw a Jewel Lavender shad spinner bait into
2' of water and work it back to the boat, vary your retrieve speed until you
find what the fish want.
Lead Hill to Power site: There are a few shad that have made
their way all the way back into the creek arms and some smaller bass have
followed them and can be caught on rattle traps or square bills. The bigger
fish are still about half way back suspended in cedar trees and can be caught
on a Jewel Rush Keel Tandem spinner bait in silver shad. Throw the bait past
the tree and kill it briefly and let it fall when you reach it, the fish will
usually strike it as it falls.
