Lake - Stockton 09/05/04 :
Main Lake: The main lake is still tough but
your best bet is to fish an Eakins' jig on bluff ends and steep chunk rock
banks. The best colors are Missouri craw and brown / purple flash match either
of them with a green pumpkin Eakins' craw and fish the bait from the bank
all the way out to 20' deep, pay extra attention where ever you encounter
large rocks, the fish seem to be hiding in the shade of the bigger rocks.
Above The Bridges: The river bite continues
to improve. Fish can be caught on several techniques right now; On mud and
gravel flat look for schools of shad that have started to migrate to shallow
water and throw white spinnerbaits and Bandit 100 crankbaits in and around
the shad. On channel swing banks throw Eakins' jigs and Eakins' flippin' jigs
in brown or MIssouri craw with a green pumpkin Zoom super chunk jr. and fish
it from the bank to 12' deep, anywhere there is wood cover fish it thoroughly.
Crappie fishing has gotten tough, most of the
fish are coming on minnows over wood 12' - 25' deep.
Walleye fishing is pretty consistent, troll
crawler harnesses or medium running shad colored crankbaits over flats and
flat points.
White bass are slow, look for shad and throw
1/2 oz. white spoons into the schooling fish.
