Lake - Stockton 11/03/04 :
Main Lake: The fishing is about as consistent as the weather
on Stockton. Caught large number of fish on shallow (bandit 100) and medium
(wiggle wart) crankbaits on chunk rock banks about mid way back in major creek
arms when the wind was blowing and it was cloudy. Hold the boat in a bout
10' - 12' of water and cast parallel to the bank. On sunny calm days switch
to a Jewel Eakins' Jig in brown / purple flash with a green pumpkin Eakins'
craw on these same banks, but hold the boat in about 15' - 20' of water and
work the bait from the shore to the boat.
Above the bridges: The river is still a little better than the
main lake. White and chartreuse Jewel Rush Keel Tandem spinnerbaits around
laydowns, log jams and standing timber is producing with a little wind, wiggle
warts on 45 degree chunk rock banks in about 8' of water will yield a few
fish. The shad are moving back into creeks and pockets as well, the bite hasn't
turned on yet but it would be worth trying with a rattle trap or bandit 100
to pick up a few fish.
Crappie fishing continues to improve with fish coming from any
submerged wood in 10' - 20' of water on tube jigs and live minnows.
Walleye fishing is pretty confusing right now the fish are scattered
and the bite is inconsistent at best, try mid depth crankbaits on main lake
points and flats.
White bass fishing has been good but the warmer weather may
slow it down some, look for shad on windy points and rooster tails and rattle
traps around the shad.
