Lake - Stockton 12/24/04 :
Main Lake: The water temperature has dropped quite a bit over
the past week, there have been a few fish caught on deep points on rouges
and Lucky Craft Pointers, best colors and chartreuse shad and nishiki a couple
of twitches and about a five to ten second pause is all it takes to trigger
a strike a little bit of wind really helps this bite. An Eakins jig on fished
on channel swing banks in the major creek arms is also effective, try Missouri
craw with a green pumpkin Eakins' craw trailer.
Above the bridges: The water is really cold up the rivers an
Eakins jigs in black/ blue flash with a twin tailed trailer or with a black
/ blue tube will work. Either bait needs to be fished very slowly around wood
cover on channel swings or deep points any wood cover or rock piles need to
be fished thoroughly. A few fish are being caught on Lucky Craft Pointers
as well, 5 - 10 second pauses between jerks seem to be all it takes to trigger
a strike. Look at the same points and channel swings with shad on them to
be successful.
Crappie fishing is not allot better, still catching a few on
minnows fished over wood cover 20'-35' deep.
Walleye are being caught more by accident than any other way,
most are being caught on jerk baits while fishing for bass on deep points.
White bass fishing continues to be good when the wind is blowing,
fish pea gravel points with rooster tails.
