Lake - Table Rock 10/09/04 :
Kimberling City Area: If the wind is blowing
and has been for a few hour in the same direction fish windy windward points
with a white / chartreuse spinner bait double willow blades (silver if it
is sunny and painted if it is cloudy) on pea gravel flats and flat pockets.
If there is wood present it will be a plus the fish should be in about 2'
of water close to the wood cover. If the wind isn't blowing move out to about
25' deep and fish a Jewel 5/16 oz. spider jig in PBJ with a green pumpkin
twin tailed trailer on the same flats and points, drag the bait slowly back
to the boat. the bite is very subtle so pay close attention to your line and
any changes in weight of the bait.
James River : There is a good flippin and pitching
bite towards the back of major creek arms on channel swing banks with an Eakins'
Jig and Eakins' Craw combination. Concentrate on the area where the channel
first make contact with the bank and where it leaves the bank. You can also
catch a few shallow on a spinnerbait on windblown flats, look for shad in
the shallows of the windy flats and throw a Manns 1 minus or a bandit 100
either one in a shad pattern or a white & chartreuse double willow spinnerbait.
White River: Not allot of change since last
week a5/8 oz. or 3/4 oz. Jewel football jig in green pumpkin / green flash
with a green pumpkin twin tailed trailer fished on pea gravel points that
drop into deep water is still working well. Up the Kings and White rivers
there is a crankbait and spinner bait bite on the windblown flats, look for
shad being pushed up on the bank and fish from 6" to 4' with a shallow
running crankbait or spinnerbait in any shad color.
Dam Area: The dam area has been slow this past
week a Jewel 3/4 oz. or 5/8 oz. football jigs on pea gravel points from 10'
- 30' deep with a twin tailed grub for a trailer is your best bet. Up Long
creek an Eakins' jig in Missouri Craw with a green pumpkin Eakins' craw as
a trailer fished around any of the visible cover is still working but the
bite is slow, hopefully the recent rains will get things moving again.
