Lake - Table Rock 10/17/04 :
Kimberling City Area: Windy points are still producing some
good fish with a white / chartreuse spinner bait double willow blades (silver
if it is sunny and painted if it is cloudy) pea gravel points are producing
better than chunk rock. If there is wood present it will be a plus the fish
should be in about 2' of water close to the wood cover. If the wind isn't
blowing move out to about 25' deep and fish a Jewel 5/16 oz. spider jig in
PBJ with a green pumpkin twin tailed trailer on the same flats and points,
drag the bait slowly back to the boat. the bite is very subtle so pay close
attention to your line and any changes in weight of the bait.
James River : The flippin and pitching bite towards the back
of major creek arms on channel swing banks with an Eakins' Jig and Eakins'
Craw combination continues to be good, also fish the back side of any docks
you come across in these areas. Concentrate on the area where the channel
first make contact with the bank and where it leaves the bank. The wiggle
wart bite is starting to come on about mid way back in the major creek arms,
look for channel swing banks with wood cover about 6' deep.
White River: The Jewel football jig bite is still good, a 5/8
oz. brush jig in green pumpkin / green flash with a green pumpkin twin tailed
trailer fished on pea gravel points that drop into deep water is the ticket.
Kings and White rivers still have a crankbait and spinner bait bite on windblown
flats, look for shad being pushed up on the bank and fish from 6" to
4' with a shallow running crankbait or spinnerbait.
Dam Area: The cooler weather and cold rains have turned the
dam area smallmouth on this past week. Look for fish to be shallow early and
late, they can be caught on a spinnerbait or wiggle wart fished from the bank
out to about 8' deep. As the day progresses move out to about 25' deep and
throw a Jewel 5/16 oz. spider jig in PBJ with a cinnamon purple twin tailed
grub trailer.
