Lake - Table Rock 10/24/04 :
Kimberling City Area: If the wind is blowing throw a white /
chartreuse spinner bait with double willow blades (if it is sunny use gold
or silver blades and painted if it is cloudy) pea gravel points are still
better than chunk rock. Any wood present is a plus as well as the presence
of shad the fish should be in about 2' of water close to the wood cover. If
the wind isn't blowing fish an Eakins' jig in PBJ with a green pumpkin Eakins'
Craw trailer around boat docks near deeper channel swing banks.
James River : The wiggle wart bite is starting to come on about
mid way back in the major creek arms, look for channel swing banks with wood
cover about 6' deep, if the wind is blowing this bite is even better. You
can also catch quite a few fish in and around boat docks with a Eakins' jig
in brown / purple flash with a twin tailed grub trailer. Most of the fish
tend to be on the back side of the dock early and move deeper as the day goes
on.
White River: The Kings and White rivers have a good shallow
crankbait and spinner bait bite on windblown flats, look for shad being pushed
up on the bank and fish from 6" to 4'. Like much of the rest of the lake
there is a decent dock bite to be found in the major creek arms around deeper
docks with an Eakins' jig and Eakins' craw combo. Most of the fish are coming
off of the back of the dock or right under the main walk way so it is important
to get your jig all the way to the walk way and have it fall vertically.
Dam Area: Look for small mouth to be on pea gravel points and
flats , the most productive pattern is to fish a Jewel 5/8 oz. football jig
or 5/16 oz. spider jig in PBJ with a cinnamon purple trailer from about 8'
deep all the way out to 25' deep. If the wind is blowing the fish will move
up shallow and you can catch them on a spinnerbait as well.
