Missouri Lakes Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock 10/30/04 :

Kimberling City Area: It has been an off and on week, if the wind is blowing or there is a little cloud cover the fish will move up on points and flats and chase shad, if not you need to move out deep and fish slow. When the wind is blowing throw a white or silver shad Jewel rush keel tandem spinner bait on both pea gravel and ledge rock points and flats in 2' to 6' of water, vary your retrieve speed and depth until you find what the fish are after. When there is no wind, back out to around 25' deep and throw a Jewel 5/8 oz. football jig or 5/16 oz. spider jig in PBJ with a cinnamon purple twin tailed trailer toward the bank and drag it back to the boat.

James River: The bite isn't allot different up the James. The fish seem to be waiting for the water to cool and stay cool before they move up. Just like around Kimberling City, if there is wind you can catch a few fish shallow on either a Jewel spinnerbait or wiggle wart. Key on windy points and flats to be successful. If the wind isn't blowing work boat docks about half way back in major creeks and coves with a Missouri Craw Eakins' Jig and green Pumpkin craw combo. Fish the entire dock until you find the depth that the fish are holding in then key on that depth on the rest of the docks.

White River: Just like the rest of the lake wind and cloud cover can really make a huge difference. With the wind, fish crankbaits and spinnerbaits on flats and flat points with wood cover fish either bait close to the wood cover to be successful. When the wind isn't blowing you can catch fish on channel swing banks in the major creek arms on an Eakins' jig in brown purple flash with a green pumpkin twin tailed grub as a trailer. Key into areas with large rocks and wood cover to be successful.

Dam Area: Key on pea gravel flats and points with a Jewel Lavender Shad spinner bait if the wind is blowing, the fish will be from 2' to 6' deep on these flats and will hold tight to any wood or rock cover on these banks. If there is no wind blowing you will need to move out deep and drag a Jewel 5/16 oz. spider jig with a twin tailed grub for a trailer. PB&J or brown purple flash are the best color choices either one with a cinnamon purple grub. Hold the boat in about 25' - 30' of water and drag the bait slowly back to boat.
