Arkansas Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Bull Shoals 04/25/05:
Dam area to Lead Hill: The lake is up and it is making it a little
more difficult to find spawning beds right now. The water is still clear for
the most part but the extra water coupled with how deep fish spawn on Bull
Shoals has made it a little tough on the sight fisherman. Your best bet is
throw a finesse worm or french fry on a split shot rig or drop shot rig and
simply fan cast the spawning areas from 3' - 12' deep. In addition move out
to pea gravel secondary and main lake points and drag Jewel 5/16oz spider jigs
from 8' - 20' deep, bites are light and difficult to detect so pay close attention.
Lead Hill to Power site: Same techniques are working here as in the lower
lake. In addition a weightless green pumpkin senko fish in the spawning areas
will also be very effective. Cast the bait toward the bank and allow it to
sink on semi slack line, if it makes it to the bottom give it a couple of small
twitches before lifting it and allowing it to fall again, most of the strikes
will come when the bait is falling, the fish will simply swim off with it so
pay close attention.
