Arkansas Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Bull Shoals 05/22/05:
Dam area to Lead Hill: It really looks like the last group
of bedding fish have left the beds and the whole lake appears to be post
spawn.
The fish are in transition and are being caught on the first deep point
of ledge near spawning cuts and coves. Best baits have been a Jewel 5/16
oz spider
jig in PB&J or brown / purple flash with a chompers 4" jig trailer
in either green pumpkin or cinnamon purple / jelly. Look for most of the
fish to be around 3' - 6' deep in the morning and moving into 12' - 20'
as the sun
rises. Most of you bites will come when you pull the bait over a large rock.
Lead Hill to Power site: Split shot rigging a Chompers needle worm or centipede
will still catch good numbers of fish. Pea gravel points and flats near deep
water are holding most of the fish so drag the rigs from 6' - 15' deep. Channel
swing banks toward the backs on major creek arms are holding fish as well;
look for transition areas where the bank changes from gravel to chunk to big
rock and throw an Eakins jig in Missouri craw with a Chomper green pumpkin
jig trailer.
