Arkansas Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Bull Shoals 07/16/05:
Dam area to Lead Hill: There are still several fish busting
shad early and late off of main lake and secondary points, most are 10" -
14" Kentuckies and are a blast to catch. A sammy, spook or other walking
type top water is the most effective method. As the sun comes up, move out
to around 30' deep and fish these same points with a Jewel 5/16 oz. spider
jig or a Carolina rigged lizard, key on areas where the bottom changes over
from pea gravel to bigger rock to be successful.
Lead Hill to Power site: Most of the fish are coming through structure fishing,
look of pea gravel / chunk rock mixed points that drop into a main river
or creek channel and fish either a Jewel 5/8 oz. football jig in brown /
purple flash or a Carolina rigged lizard or baby brush hog and drag the bait
slowing on the bottom, most of the strikes are very subtle so pay close attention.
If there are shad in the backs of the creeks you can catch a few fish on
a Lucky Craft R.C. 1.5 or a rattle trap fished in and around the shad and
cover.
