Arkansas Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Bull Shoals 07/24/05:
Dam area to Lead Hill: Still a pretty good topwater bite early
and late, just watch for schools of bait and the Kentuckies won't be far away.
During the heat of the day your best bet is to drag a Jewel 5/8 oz. football
or 7/16 oz. spider jig on deep transition points. Look for points that have
a mixture of pea gravel and chunk rock that drop into the main river or creek
channel. Best colors of jigs have been PB&J or green pumpkin / green flash
with a matching 5" Chomper jig trailer; fish the areas where the point
drops into the channel, fan casting until you find the depth the fish are
holding in.
Lead Hill to Power site: Still catching most of the fish on
deep structure, a Carolina rigged lizard or salty sinker, a Jewel football
or spider jig or a drop shot rigged razor or drop shot worm will all catch
several fish. Look for deep drops near points and bluff ends to be holding
most of the fish, if there is shad present it is a bonus. Just like in the
dam area work each piece of structure thoroughly until you find the depth
that is holding most of the fish and then concentrate on that depth.
