Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 02/13/05:
Main Lake: Still high just as they were making some headway on
drawing Stockton down, we get another couple days of rain. The best bite has
been in the backs of the major creeks, look for the last channel swing bank
and fish an Eakins' Jig in brown/ chart. or Missouri craw with a green pumpkin
Yamamoto twin tailed grub as a trailer. Fish slowly and deliberately keying
on any wood or rock cover as well as the transition areas just before and after
the channel makes contact with the bank.
Above the bridges: The bite up the rivers is improving, there are a couple
of ways to catch fish up the rivers depending on water clarity and the amount
of wind you have. On windy days closer to the bridges where the water is a
little clearer fish a Table Rock Shad Lucky Craft Pointer on deep rocky points,
fan cast the point and pause your bait about 20 - 30 seconds between twitches.
On calm days switch up to a black/blue flash Eakins' flippin jig with a pork
chunk trailer and fish both main lake and major creek arm channel swing banks.
You will need to fish the bait slowly and pay close attention to the bait and
your line at all times with the light bite.
Crappie are still being caught on both live minnows, 2" grubs
and swimmin' minnows on bluffs from 15' - 25' around standing timber.
