Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 02/27/05:
Main Lake: Still catching fish on a Lucky Craft Pointer in Nishiki
and Aurora Black on windy steep points, the fish can be anywhere from right
on the bank to several feet off the bank so work the bait all the way back
to the boat. Pause the bait around 5 seconds between twitches when the wind
is blowing and between 10 - 20 seconds when it is calm. You can also catch
several fish on channel swing banks in the major creek arms with an Eakins'
jig in brown / purple flash with a green pumpkin Yamamoto twin tail grub.
Above the bridges: The water up the rivers is warming quickly on sunny days,
start the day with a black / blue flash Eakins' jig in your had and finish
it with a crankbait or spinnerbait as the day goes by. The Eakins' jig is best
fished on deep points and channel swings on the main lake, once the water warms
up move to pea gravel points and flats and fish the spinnerbait around wood
cover.
Both walleye and white bass seem to be starting their spawning runs, they
are hit and miss right now but should be in the rivers by the weekend if the
weather holds.
