Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 03/05/05:
Main Lake: You can catch a few smallmouth on windy deeper chunk
rock points and channel swings with a wiggle wart in natural green craw.
Fish are starting to move into the northern creeks and are being caught on
Eakins'
jigs in PB&J with a cinnamon purple Yamamoto twin tail grub on transition
areas and channel swings. There are still a few fish being caught deep
on spoons and drop shots but they will likely move as the weather warms.
Above the bridges: Best bite up the rivers has been a brown craw wiggle wart
fished on transition banks. Look for areas where rock changes over to chunk
rock and parallel the bank 3' - 6' deep. Most of the bites will come as the
crankbait bounces off a large rock or stump. When the wind isn't blowing throw
an Eakins' jig in black blue flash with a blue Yamamoto twin tail on these
same transition areas.
Reports of good catches of walleye up the rivers, they appear to be staging
in deeper channel swings and can be caught on wiggle warts and other deep diving
crankbaits.
The white bass have also started to move, look for them to be in deep pockets
up the river, throw rooster tails and small white crankbaits.
