Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 03/12/05:
Main Lake: The main lake continues to produce smallmouth on chunk
and ledge rock points and banks. When the wind is blowing throw a Lucky Craft
pointer 78 in American Shad and pause the bait 5 - 8 seconds between twitches.
The fish are moving quite a bit so they will be at different depths through
out the day, start shallow and work your way out until you find the fish. IF
there is no wind switch over to a Jewel 5/8oz. spider jig in brown / purple
flash with a Yamamoto twin tail for a trailer. Work the bait slowly on the
bottom and pay careful attention to the the bait when you bring it over something,
most of the bites are coming as the bait falls.
Above the bridges: If the wind is blowing throw a wiggle wart in firetiger
or brown craw on chunk rock or a chartreuse and white spinnerbait in the back
of pockets that have been muddied by the wind and waves. Slow roll the spinnerbait
maintaining contact with the bottom as much as possible, and fish the wiggle
wart from 4' - 8' deep. IF there is no wind switch over to a brown Eakins jig
and fish these same chunk rock and transition areas slowly making sure to fish
around all of the cover.
Walleye are being caught in the deeper pools of the rivers but they are almost
all smaller males, the females are still in the lake waiting to move up.
The white bass are moving up and have been caught on rooster tails and are
being caught close to the Greenfield and Aldrich areas.
