Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 03/21/05:
Main Lake: Not allot of changes in the past week, smallmouth
are still coming on chunk and ledge rock points and banks. A Lucky Craft pointer
78 in American Shad on windy days will produce several fish on both main lake
and secondary points. Without use a Jewel 5/8oz. spider jig in brown / purple
flash with a Yamamoto twin tail for a trailer fished slowly on the bottom.
Most of the bites are coming as the bait falls and will be little more than
a soft spongy feeling.
Above the bridges: Deeper pocket with wind blowing bait into them still seem
to be your best bet with a spinnerbait. Slow roll the bait in 3' - 6' of water
in and around the schools of shad. There are still a few fish being caught
on wiggle warts and bandits on main lake and secondary points, chunk rock mixed
with gravel seems to be holding most of the fish. Further up both rivers there
is also a pretty good jig bite on some of laydowns and other wood.
Walleye are being caught in the rivers but they are still mostly smaller males
the water needs to warm a little more and the females will move up.
The whites have moved into the river and are being caught on rooster tails
and small white crankbaits.
