Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 03/26/05:
Main Lake: There is still a pretty good crankbait bite in the
clearer water of the main lake, look for fish to be using secondary points
as staging areas as they work there way toward spawning areas. Fish are being
caught on wiggle warts, bombers and bandits in a variety of green and crawfish
patterns. Parallel banks in 3' - 8' of water on the sides of points. In addition
you can catch some larger females suspended of of these points in 10' - 20'
of water, they don't seem to be holding on any specific cover and will strike
just about any color jerkbait that comes by.
Above the bridges: Spinnerbaits are still catching allot of fish in deeper
pockets of mixed gravel and chunk rock, any area that the wind has pushed bait
into seems to be holding fish as well. Slow roll Jewel Tandem Rush or Lavender
Shad spinnerbaits in 2' - 10' of water and pay close attention to any cover
you bring the bait over, most of the bites are coming after you make contact
with the cover. There are also a few big fish being caught on Eakins' Flippin'
Finesse jigs in brown with green pumpkin Yamamoto twin tail grub for a trailer,
fish the jig in heavy cover on sunny banks.
Walleye are being caught in the rivers and around the dam, some better females
have been caught this week, cast jerkbaits or troll crawler harnesses.
The whites are still on the move and can be caught on a variety of baits,
rooster tails, small crankbaits and jerkbaits are taking some of the better
fish.
