Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 04/23/05:
Main Lake: Fish are moving onto the beds all over the lake. Most
of them are buck males but you will find an occasional big female that is hanging
close to the nest. Males guarding the nest can be caught on white tubes white
Eakins' craws or lizards, to catch the larger females move to 10' - 12' deep
and throw split shot or brop shot rigs with finesse worms or if the wind is
blowing switch to a deep diving crankbait or slow roll a Jewel Tandem Rush
spinnerbait.
Above the bridges: Most of the fish are on the beds up the river, the males
are aggressively guarding the nests and can be caught on tubes, lizards and
craws. Better females can be located 6' - 10' deep on secondary points and
drops near the nests, throw Carolina rigged or Texas rigged baby brush hogs
or lizards and work them slowly across the bottom. A little wind will make
these fish a little more active and they can be caught on wht/cht Jewel Rush
Tandem spinnerbaits.
Walleye fishing has been interesting; some quality fish are coming on crappie
minnows drifted below floats on main lake points and swings.
The whites are still being caught on rooster tails and small white crankbaits
in the river and creek arms.
