Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 06/07/05:
Main Lake: Top waters early and late are producing several good
fish and a ton of shorts and whites; Lucky Craft G-splash, Pop-Rs or Spooks
are all producing strikes on steeper banks around the state park area. As the
sun comes up move out on pea gravel and chunk rock points near deep water and
channel swings, concentrate on any ledges that drop from around 8' to 12' and
fish Carolina rigged needle worms, baby brush hogs and french fries down these
ledges.
Above the bridges: Still catching a few fish on a Lucky Craft R. C. 1.5 around
laydowns and shallow brush, you need to throw the bait at the cover from just
about every angle to get bit but the quality of the fish has been worth the
effort. Also try an Eakins' flipping jig on cover further up the river, laydowns,
log jams, stumps and rocks have all been holding fish in the shade of shallow
cover. The best jig color continues to be black / blue flash with black / blue
Chomper 5" jig trailer or a Zoom super chunk in flippin' blue.
Walleye can be caught on main lake points around suspended at around 20' deep,
during the day troll crawler harnesses and in the evening switch to casting
deep running crankbaits.
Crappie are being caught on live minnows and 2" squirts in timber around
15' - 25' deep.
