Missouri Lakes Fishing Report

Lake - Stockton 06/27/05:

Main Lake: With the lake still up a little there are a ton of fish in the bushes and fishing has very good. Brown / purple Eakins' jigs with Chomper twin tail jig trailer or an Eakins' craw have been the best bait. The corp. is pulling allot of water so if the bite dies down in the bushes move out to a main lake chunk rock or pea gravel point and throw a Carolina rigged Chomper salty sinker or a Jewel 5/16 oz. spider jig in PB&J with twin tail trailer. Fish the bait from about 10' - 25' deep and maintain bottom contact through out the retrieve.

Above the bridges: The best bite has been flipping an Eakins' flippin' finesse jig in and around all of the flooded brush, laydowns and other wood cover. Black / blue flash continues to be the best color with a blue or flippin blue Zoom super chunk jr. for a trailer. I have also been catching a few fish on isolated wood cover on shallow flats with a Lucky Craft RC 1.5 in chartreuse / black back. You need to make multiple casts at each piece of cover from as many angles as possible, run the bait into the wood on every cast to trigger a strike.

The best walleye action has been in the evenings trolling deep running crank baits on main lake flats.

Crappie are being caught on live minnows in and around brush 20' - 30' deep.
