Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 07/14/05:
Main Lake: During the day the best bite continues to be either:
a Jewel 5/8 oz. football jig in PB&J with a Chomper cinnamon / purple
/ jelly 5" jig trailer or a Carolina rigged green pumpkin salty sinker
or lizard. Fish main lake and secondary points with a mix of pea gravel and
chunk rock from 10' - 25' deep. Early and late you can also catch a few fish
on top water, watch for them to blow up on shad and make repeated casts to
the same area, size isn't that great but they are allot of fun to catch.
Above the bridges: Look for brush piles, flooded timber and deep channel
swings to be holding most of the fish right now. A black / blue flash Eakins'
jig and Chomper jig trailer will catch several fish in all of these locations,
key on shade in the daytime. There are also a few good fish following shad
into the backs of some of major creek arms, a weightless salty sinker pitched
next to a stump or laydown on a flat will produce a bite most of the time.
Best walleye bite continues to be in the late evening with deep diving crankbaits
fished near drops on main lake flats.
About the only crappie action has been on live minnows in flooded timber
and brush piles 15' - 25' deep.
