Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 08/07/05:
Main Lake: The bite is still pretty deep on the main lake, fish
from 10’ – 30’ on main lake points and bluff ends with a
Jewel 7/16 oz. spider jig or 5/8 oz. football jig in Missouri craw with a
Chomper jig trailer or a Carolina rigged french fry or baby brush hog. Most
of the bites are shallow in the morning and move deeper as the day progresses,
in the heat of the mid day sun the bites get pretty light in the deeper water
so pay attention to your line.
Above the bridges: The top water bite has slowed a little bit
but you can still have fun catching short fish on top early and late with
a sammy or spook. Better fish are coming on an Eakins’ jig with Chomper
jig trailer fished on deep rocky points, bluff ends and rip rap. The best
color has been brown / purple flash with a green pumpkin trailer. A few fish
are being caught on square bills and Lucky Craft R.C. 1.5 crank baits fish
tight to wood on main lake flats and on flats in the backs of creeks.
Most of the Walleye are still be caught trolling crankbaits
on main lake points and flats at night or early in the morning.
Crappie are being caught mainly at night on live minnows fished
near bridge pilling and deep brush piles 15’ – 30’ deep.
