Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 10/07/05:
Main Lake: The top water bite is still very strong early and
late, you will catch a mixed bag of whites, Kentucky’s and Smallmouth,
but the action is hard to beat. Better fish are still a little deeper in
12’ – 22’ of water, and Eakins jig or Jewel spider jig
fished on transition banks and points with a mix of rock and gravel will
result in several bites.
Above the bridges: The water remains low and there are a lot of exposed
stumps above the bridges. IN windy pockets a few fish are being caught on
spinnerbaits and buzzbaits wherever shad area present, a Lucky Craft R.C.
1.5 fished around stumps and laydowns will also produce a few nice fish as
well. The most consistent bite is on an Eakins flippin’ jig in black
/ blue flash with a Zoom super chunk jr. in flippin’ blue. Make repeated
pitches to laydowns and log jams and you will be rewarded with a few very
good fish.
The Walleye fishing remains good; trolling is still the preferred method
with both crawler harnesses and mid running crankbaits.
You will need to stay over top of wood cover to catch crappie; live minnows
and 2” grubs have been the ticket this past week.
