Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 10/28/05:
Main Lake: Early and late you can still catch several fish
on top waters and buzz baits, look toward the backs of cover and creek arms
that are full of shad to be the most productive areas. As the day goes on
the fish will move to either horizontal cover like lay downs or to the last
couple of channel swings toward the back of the creek. An Eakins’ jig
in brown / purple flash with a green pumpkin 4” Chomper jig trailer
or a weightless salty sinker is a good bet on either a lay down or channel
swing.
Above the bridges: The lake is still way down and the number of damaged
boats continues to rise so be careful up the rivers. If you do fish the rivers
look for most of the fish to be on channel swing banks on both the main channel
and back into the creek arms, an Eakins’ jig in black / blue flash
with a blue Zoom super chunk in flippin blue is an effective choice. On windy
days look for shad toward the backs of the creek arms and throw a Jewel tandem
Rush spinner bait in white or white and chartreuse in and around the schools
of shad.
Walleye fishing continues to improve, crank baits and rattle traps are catching
several fish on secondary flat points in major creek arms.
Crappie fishing is still best over brush piles with a live minnow below
float.
