Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 11/04/05:
Main Lake: The top water bite has slowed down through out the
lake but there are still a few fish rising each morning to spooks and Sammys.
The best bite has been on deep main lake points and bluff ends that break
down to chunk rock. Early in the day a Jewel lavender shad spinnerbait fish
tight to the bank will produce both shorts and keepers, then after the sun
is up switch over to an Eakins’ jig in Missouri craw with a green pumpkin
Eakins craw or a Chompers ultra tube in green pumpkin / orange and fish on
the bottom down to 20’ deep.
Above the bridges: Most of the fish up the rivers are on flats in the morning
chasing shad and on channel swings in the afternoon. With this in mind try
rattle traps, Lucky Craft RC 1.5 or Jewel tandem rush spinner baits in and
around schools of shad on the flats early. Then as the sun gets higher in
the sky switch over to an Eakins’ flippin’ finesse jig in brown
or black / brown with a green pumpkin super chunk jr. and fish the transition
areas on the channel swing banks.
Walleye fishing is still pretty good, most of the fish are on main lake points
and can be caught on small crankbaits or crawler harnesses trolled slowly.
Crappie fishing is still best over brush piles with a live minnow below float.
