Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 11/28/05:
Main Lake: Smallmouth fishing has gotten much better over the
past week, Eakins jigs, Jewel spider and football jigs, Chomper ultra tubes
and needle worms are all catching fish. Look for rocky secondary points,
bluff ends and channel swings to hold most of the fish, early in the day
you will need to fish tight to deep cover very slowly, but as the day warms
the fish will become a little more active.
Above the bridges: It is still dangerous up the rivers so be careful when
you run. Look for schools of shad moving into the backs of creeks a bigger
pockets to attract several fish. Throw Jewel lavender shad spinnerbaits,
Lucky Craft R.C. 1.5 and other shallow running crankbaits close to any and
all wood cover toward the backs of these creeks. On the main lake most of
the fish will be in log jams and channel swing banks and can be caught on
Eakins’ flippin’ jigs in Missouri craw with a green pumpkin jig
trailer.
Walleye are feeding on shad on secondary points and near the dam, troll
or cast medium running crankbaits in shad patterns.
Crappie fishing is pretty good over brush with live minnows and 2’ grubs
or squirts.
Whites have been great on windy days, fish flats and flat points with white
3/8 oz. rooster tails.
