Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 1/14/05:
Main Lake: The lake is up and the wind is blowing. If you can
fish the main lake try Lucky Craft Pointers on the deeper chunk rock points,
a little wind on these points helps. IF the wind is blowing head into the major
creek arms and fish channel swing banks with a brown / purple flash Eakins
jig tipped with a green pumpkin twin tailed grub. Start about mid way back
into the creek and work your way back, if you notice the water getting significantly
colder work your way to the mouth of the creek. You will have to fish the bait
very slowly regardless.
Above the bridges: Still a little muddy up the river arms, the water is quite
a bit colder and the fishing is tougher. As the water clears over this week
there should be a pretty good stick bait bite starting up. Look for deeper
points with a little wind on them and fan cast a Lucky Craft Pointer 78 in
Nishiki or Chart. Shad across the point. You will most likely need to pause
the bait for 20 - 30 seconds between twitches in order to get bit.
The crappie bite is a little better, look for the fish to be between 20'-35'
deep most are being caught on live minnows.
