Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 12/04/05:
Main Lake: Your best bet is still to target smallmouth on the
main lake right now. Fish an Eakins’ 7/16 oz. jig in Missouri craw
with a green pumpkin Chomper jig trailer on deeper chunk rock points and
bluff ends from 8’ – 30’ deep. The heavier jig is easier
to work down deep and in the wind. There have been a few fish being caught
on Carolina rigged salty sinkers and heavy weighted tubes as well off of
roll offs and the deep ends of pea gravel points. The bite is slow but the
quality of these fish has been awesome.
Above the bridges: The water temp up the river has crashed, low to mid 40’s
through out the day making the bite pretty tough. The fish that have been
being caught are coming on Eakins’ jigs or tubes fish very slowly in
deep main lake channel swings. IF the wind is blowing you may catch a few
fish on a Jewel Tandem Rush spinnerbait in and around windblown standing
timber.
Walleye are still best on crankbaits and crawler harnesses trolled up near
the dam or in the mouths of major creeks at 25’ deep.
Crappie fishing is fair on live bait fished over marked brush piles.
Whites continue to be good on windy days fishing rooster tails on points.
