Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 12/10/05:
Main Lake: The cold snap over the past week has slowed the
action quite a bit, look for smallmouth to be on rocky main lake and secondary
points as deep as 35’. Use Jewel spider or football jigs or tubes and
fish them slowly on these points, most of the bites are very soft and hard
to detect so pay close attention to what you are bring the bait through.
On windy days there are still a few fish being taken on wiggle warts on these
same points between 6’ – 10’ deep, it is important to run
the crankbait into any cover on the bottom to be successful.
Above the bridges: The water temp up the river is down right cold, spoke
with one angler that said he was breaking ice in the upper end of the little
Sac. Most of the fish are being caught on Eakins jigs and tubes fish slowly
around log jams, big rocks and deep channel swings, fish slowly and deliberately.
Have heard of a few fish being caught on stick baits on windy transition
banks, look for the fish to be holding near the deepest water and any heavy
cover you can find.
Trolling wiggle warts and other crank baits near the mouths of coves or
on the face of the dam has been the most effective technique of late.
Marked brush piles are holding a lot of crappie, 2” tubes, grubs and
squirts are all working well.
Whites continue to be caught on windy flat banks with rooster tails.
