Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 1/23/05:
Main Lake: The lake is up and cold, the bite has slowed quite
a bit in the last week. Best bite has been fishing an Eakins' jig in Missouri
craw with either a twin tail or a small pork chunk on bluff end banks. It is
tough right now so fish very slowly and pay close attention, most of the bites
are extremely light. Have heard of a few fish being caught on a green pumpkin
tube in the same areas fished with a 1/8oz pegged slip sinker.
Above the bridges: The bite is not much better up the rivers, most of the
fish being caught are coming on Eakins jigs and Eakins flippin' finesse jigs
in black /blue flash with a blue pork chunk for a trailer. Key on bluff ends
and channel swing transition areas and fish very slowly, the bite here is just
as light as on the main lake so pay close attention.
The crappie are few and far between most are coming on live minnows in 20'
-30' of water holding tight to trees.
