Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Stockton 1/6/05:
Main Lake: The lake was still rising at this report, The main
lake while stained is still pretty clear and fish can be caught on the old
bank line (about 7' - 8' deep) in brush and laydowns on an Eakins' jig. Most
productive color was Missouri Craw with a green pumpkin twin tail fished slowly
through the submerged cover. The fish may move shallower with some warmer weather
but for now they have been holding to the cover close to the old bank line.
Above the bridges: The upper reaches of the lake are muddy and the water is
much colder. The bite above the bridges was tough, try a black / blue flash
Eakins' flippin finesse jig on transition areas in the major creek arms. Fish
the bait as slow as you an stand to and work every piece of cover well, the
fish are not willing to move a whole lot after a bait. Until the water clears
the jerkbait bite will most likely be on hold above the bridges.
The few folks fishing for crappie are catching most of the fish on bluffs
with swimmin' minnows in 15' - 20' of water.
Walleye are few and far between most of what is being caught is on jerkbaits
in clearer water on main lake points
