Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Table Rock 03/13/05:
Kimberling City Area: Still a good jig bite in the mid lake
area, concentrate on transition areas and channels swings toward the back
of the
creeks with an Eakins' jig in PB&J with a cinnamon purple Yamamoto twin
tail grub. There are a few fish being caught on pea gravel with 4" salt
and pepper Yamamoto grubs right now but the bite is too unpredictable to
rely on. If you have a little wind the wiggle wart bite is still pretty
good as
well, work the bait from 3' - 8' deep on chunk rock points and banks.
James River: The James is still producing some of the biggest fish right now,
look for fish to be on transition northern channel swing banks. Best baits
are a brown craw wiggle wart fished from 2' - 6' deep or an Eakins jig in brown
/ purple flash with a green pumpkin Yamamoto twin tail for a trailer. Work
an area once with the wiggle wart and then fish the same bank again with the
Eakins' jig.
White River: The White and Kings rivers don't seem to be getting the boat
traffic that the James river is getting. The same basic patterns are working
here as in the rest of the lake, look for fish to be on transition areas of
chunk rock to gravel, the presence of wind makes a huge difference and will
help the bite on a wiggle wart or a Lucky Craft pointer. Best colors are phantom
green and natural green craw in the wiggle wart and nishiki or chartreuse shad
in the pointer.
Dam Area: The dam area continues to produce some really good
smallmouth right now, look for most of the fish to be on chunk rock points
and channel swing
banks with larger rock present. Throw wiggle warts and Lucky Craft pointer
78's with natural colors getting more bites than bright ones. There are
a few fish being caught swimming Yamamoto 4" single tail grubs on pea
gravel right now when the wind is blowing, try from 6' - 15' and keep the
bait close
to the bottom.
