Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Table Rock 06/06/05:
Kimberling City Area: The deep fish are starting to show up
in some of the tree tops through out the Kimberling area; drop shotting Chompers
drop shot worms in the tops of these trees has been the most effective
method.
Look for the trees to top out at around 25' - 40' in depths from 40' -
90'. Dragging a Jewel 5/8 oz. football jig in Texas craw with a 5" green
pumpkin Chomper jig trailer on main lake and secondary pea gravel flats and
points
has also been very effective. Key on points that are close to deep water
and work the bait slowly.
James River: Carolina rigging Chomper Needle worms, lizards and salty sinkers
all in green pumpkin or watermelon red has been the best pattern up the James
river. Look for pea gravel flats and points that lead to deep water, a Jewel
5/8 oz. football jig is also very effective in these same areas. The deep crankbait
bite is starting to heat up, DD-22's or Lucky Craft CB-20 crankbaits fished
on off shore humps and ledges will be producing fish very soon.
White River: Jewel 5/16 oz. spider jigs in Missouri craw with a green pumpkin
chomper jig trailer are working on main lake and secondary pea gravel points.
It is important that the bait maintains contact with the bottom through out
the retrieve for it to be effective. Further up the Kings river there have
been a few fish caught on an Eakins jigs in Texas craw with an Eakins craw
trailer, fish channel swing banks and transition areas where the rock changes
over from pea gravel to chunk rock.
Dam Area: A 4" Chompers single tail grub in smoke or green pumpkin is
still accounting for allot of fish, put either color on a 1/4oz. ball head
and swim it close to the bottom by casting it out letting it fall to the bottom
and then "slow rolling" it back in . Dragging a Jewel football or
spider jig will also catch several fish on these same pea gravel flats and
points. The best color jig has been PB&J with a cinnamon / purple /
jelly Chomper jig trailer, like the grub cast the bait out and simply drag
it back
to the boat, most of the bites will be very light so pay close attention.
