Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Table Rock 07/03/05:
Kimberling City Area: Drops shots and spoons continue to be
the dominate pattern in the Kimberling City area. Tree tops between 20' -
45' deep are holding several fish each work use your electronics and watch
your bait as it falls through the limbs. Work the bait around each limb you
see until you get a bite, most of the fish will be holding at the same depth
on that tree. If you don't like to fish deep there are several fish being
caught on deeper docks, use a PB&J Eakins' jig with a Chomper cinnamon
/ purple / jelly 4" jig trailer and key on the shady areas in and around
the walkways and stalls to 30' deep.
James River: Two patterns are working well right now on the James; work
pea gravel points with Carolina rigged green pumpkin lizards or brush hogs
or a Jewel 5/8 oz. football jigs in brown / purple flash with a green pumpkin
Chompers jig trailer. Work either bait from 10' - 25' deep maintaining bottom
contact all the way, most of the fish are concentrated near the deeper drop
on the point. The second pattern that is working well is a deep diving crankbait
on the deep edge of flats and points, parallel the channel where it makes
contact with the flat.
White River: Jewel spider jigs, football jigs and tubes are all working
well on pea gravel points and flats near deep water, maintain bottom contact
to be successful and fish from 10' - 25' deep. The best colors are green
pumpkin, watermelon and watermelon candy in the tube and PB&J or Texas
craw in the jigs. In addition there is a good deep bite from Campbell point
to the James river, look for most of the fish to be in tree tops from 15'
- 40' deep over 40' - 80' of water.
Dam Area: Drop shotting a Chompers drop shot worm in sand or dark melon
fish in tree tops and around drops and saddles has been the best pattern.
Look for the fish to be suspended in the tree tops from 15' - 35' deep, most
of the fish will be holding tight to the tree branches when it is sunny and
will be cruising close to the tree early and late or when it is cloudy. If
it is windy there are some big smallmouth being caught on Chompers single
tail grubs fished on windy flats and points.
