Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Table Rock 08/08/05:
Kimberling City Area: Still a strong deep bite around Kimberling
City, most of the fish are in tree tops around 35’ deep over 50’
– 60’. Spoons, Chompers drop shot worms and needle worms have
all been effective. There are still fish being caught on deeper boat docks
as well, an Eakins’ jig in PB&J with a green pumpkin Eakins’
craw will catch several fish. Look for shady areas from 12’ –
25’ deep in stalls and on the edges of the docks.
James River: While a DD – 22 or DT – 16 is still
catching fish in the upper James a Carolina rigged french fry or baby brush
hog is your best bet in the Aunts Creek to Campers’ point areas. Fish
the rig on pea gravel points and flats that drop into the river or creek channel,
pay close attention to areas with chunk rock mixed in with the pea gravel.
White River: Still catching fish on Jewel Football and Spider
jigs in the White and Kings rivers; transition banks near main lake and major
creek arm channel swings are holding most of the fish. Work either bait from
the bank down to 25’ deep until you find the depth holding most of the
fish, remember they will move deep as the sun gets higher. Best colors have
been brown / purple flash on the White and Missouri craw in the Kings’
both with a Chomper green pumpkin jig trailer.
Dam Area: your best bet continues to be deep fishing in the
dam area, spoons, drop shot worms and grubs are all productive. Look for schools
of shad in deep tree tops, bluff ends and main lake saddles and points. Work
your bait in and around these schools of shad until you entice the fish into
biting. The best bite has been early before they start generating at the dam.
