Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Table Rock 10/09/05:
Kimberling City Area: While the deep bite continues to produce
with both drop shots and spoons on bluff ends at 35’ – 65’,
there has been some movement shallow over the past week with the lower temperatures.
Several short fish are starting to be caught on pea gravel points and flats
with both a Jewel 5/16 oz. spider jig in PB&J with a green pumpkin Chomper
twin tail and a smoke single tail grub fished near the bottom. Most of the
fish are coming 6’ – 12’ deep.
James River: The water in the James has cooled a little faster than the
rest of the lake, there is a pretty good top water bite in the morning on
sammys and spooks look for schooling action on main lake and secondary points.
As the day progresses move out on these same points and fish a Jewel 5/8
oz. football jig in Missouri craw with a green pumpkin Chomper 5” jig
trailer from 10’ – 25’ deep.
White River: On cloudy days you can catch several fish on buzz baits and
waking a spinner bait on windy main lake flats near deep water. Look for
these fish to be holding to any wood or rock cover that may be on the flat.
When the sun is shinning your best bet is to fish a Jewel 5/8oz. football
jig in brown / purple flash with a Chompers cinnamon / purple / jelly 5” jig
trailer. Drag the bait slowly on these same main lake flats paying close
attention the any cover or drops that you encounter.
Dam Area: The deep bite continues to be your best bet around the dam. Drop
shot and needle worms fish on bluff ends, roll offs and other drops will
produce a few fish as will trees toping out around 25’ deep. If the
wind is blowing a 3” smoke grub on a ¼ or 3/8 oz. jig head swum
on pea gravel flats and points will produce a few fish as well.
