Missouri Lakes Fishing Report

Lake - Bull Shoals 03/12/06:

The rain ,an inch plus ,in the area has improved things. The fish are now feeding in order to get ready for the rigors of the impending spawn.

Largemouth are feeding on the numerous schools of shad moving into the shallow waters of the feeder stream and coves. The coves with the most run off spots are best. Rattlin -Rouges &other stick baits are the best to fish with now. Jigs and crank baits are running a tight second and third place. Spinner baits, fished in very shallow water, are also producing some nice fish in the backs of the creeks.

Crappie are excellent. The fish are out in the main lake channels, feeding on large schools of shad. You have to graph these fish, but once you have found them a limit of decent sized fish can be taken in about an hour. There are some fish starting to move towards the shores but they are small in size

A double limit of crappie taken by Bob and Bryan Bochert ,Guides at TMR , one afternoon last week. They caught them on swimmin minnows and small inline spinners.

Walleye are in the creeks spawning during the evening hours. I do not bother these fish now but, if you wish, I am sure you can catch them on live bait. (minnows or shad)

White Bass are starting their spawn run up the feeder streams. Anglers are catching them by either trolling or casting lures such as the Hot n Tot , Gay. Blade, Mr Champ, etc. The warmest part of the day between the hours of 3P.M. and 6 P.M. are best right now. Drifting minnows and live shad are also productive.

Some catfish , blues primarily are being caught in the feeder streams after the sun goes down, Live shad, minnows and night crawlers are the baits of choice.

Blue gill and other sun fish are starting to feed around the submerged brush in the area of a pea gravel bank. Crickets are best if you can find them. Wax worms, maggots, and red wigglers will also get the job done.

For you anglers looking for a good deal on plastics B&B Tackle 273 4210 in Isabella is having a half off sale on plastics. ZOOM lizards, flukes, centipedes, brush hogs --- R&B Baits (all types) Also Falcon and Berkely line. Get there quick or the pickins will be slim!!
