Missouri Lakes Fishing Report

Lake - Bull Shoals 03/27/06:

Bull Shoals Lake in Missouri , Pontiac--Theodosia area. FISHING REPORT compiled and submitted as a community service by SPRING CREEK ENTERPRISES .Photo supplied by BILTMORE RESORT 417 273 4499.

Bass are good right now in the shallows mainly at the backs of the main lake coves and creeks. The two best lures are a Strike King tandem spin (white) and various stick baits such as Smithwick , Rapala etc. As the water warms into the high 50s switch from a stick bait to a crank bait like the wiggle wart. (v-37) Jigs are also good in the butterscotch (light brown or tan) The brand lure is really not that important as long as it has a quality hook. (buy the least expensive ).

White Bass are stacked on the bottom of the main lake from Janian point to the north side of the Theodosia bridge waiting for the water temperature to raise so that they can move up stream and drop their eggs. (55 degrees should do it) Some fish can be caught right now by dropping spoons or live bait on the bottom where these fish are suspended. A good graph is a necessity to do this.

Crappie are still mainly in the main lake channels feeding on large schools of shad. These fish are waiting for warmer water temperatures to move into the spawning areas and the flooded brush.

Walleye are now in the streams and staging at the mouths of the spawning streams . They can be caught using minnows, shad, creek slicks.and night crawlers slowly fished along the bottom with the aid of a trolling harness.

Catfish anglers are doing well at dusk in the feeder streams around the mud and/or sand flats. Night crawlers and small perch are the best bait to use
