Missouri Lakes Fishing Report

Lake - Bull Shoals 04/11/06:

Bull Shoals Lake fishing report ,Home of the record Missouri Largemouth Bass, Theodosia-Pontiac area. Compiled and submitted by as a community service SPRING CREEK ENTERPRISES , Don and Judy Schnable http://www.maout.com/springcreek.htm Check us out!!!!

Fisheries biologists relate that the species of fish native to our area will spawn from the full moon in April (April 13th) to the full moon in May (May 13th). Further that during this period these fish will be their most active for their entire one year cycle. They will need more energy and thusly must consume more food to survive. So now is the best time of the year to fish according to the fisheries biologist logic.
OK by me!

Bass are being caught in good numbers in the coves and mouths of feeder streams along the banks in shallow water.. The most popular baits are Wiggle Warts , small stick baits, and small spoons and spinners. The logic of fishing with smaller baits is because they are feeding on the small recently hatched shad.

This 6.1 Largemouth was caught by Grant Taylor Tanaloa Illinois who was fishing the Bass Tournaments Plus Fenton Missouri held at Theodosia Marine April 8th. 25 boats participated . Grant and his partner took first Place with a 5 fish limit totaling 15.6 lbs and the above big Bass. The fish was caught on a Rat L Trap in Wolf Creek in about 3 ft of water at about 12 noon.

Crappie are now moving to the spawn beds and are being taken on a large variety of baits. The swimmin minnow made by Otter Creek being the most popular (purple color) of the anglers. These fish are either on the flooded brush or next to the shore in the backs of the coves in water ranging from 3 ft to 12 ft.

White Bass are staging at the mouths of the feeder streams getting ready to make the spawn run. No shoaling activity has been noticed as of yet. Trolling small in line spinners, spoons, and crank baits are the most productive right now.

Walleye are coming to the creel by anglers trolling night crawlers and minnows on pre rigged outfits The place to be is in the main lake channel flats about 12 ft deep..
