Arkansas Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Bull Shoals 01/03/06:
Dam area to Lead Hill: The deep bite is your best bet up by
the dam. Look for fish to be following schools of bait off of points and
bluff ends, if you find the bait you will find the fish. A back up pattern
is to drag Jewel 5/16 oz. spider jigs and 3” tubes in green pumpkin
from 12’ – 40’ deep on pea gravel points near deep water.
Pay close attention to any rocks or wood cover that you drag across.
Lead Hill to Power site: Two patterns are emerging in the upper lake; on
windy days a pointer, rogue or X-Rap has been very effective on mixed rock
points. You will likely catch a mixed bag of fish on these points, whites,
blacks and walleyes have all been grouping up and feeding on shad. The second
pattern has been fishing an Eakins’ jig in Missouri Craw with a green
pumpkin trailer on channel swing banks toward the back of creek arms. Most
of the fish will be holding tight to any cover that is on the channel swings
and may take multiple casts to draw a strike.
