Arkansas Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Bull Shoals 02/10/06:
Dam area to Lead Hill: The deep bite is still a very effective
way to catch a few Kentuckies and Smallmouth, drop shot worms and grubs have
been more effective than spoons and you need to find bait suspended up off
of the bottom to be effective. Most of the fish have been on points, bluff
ends and saddles and they will suspend around 40’ - 60’ deep
under the schools of shad. Largemouth are being caught on channel swing banks
toward the backs of major creeks on Eakins’ Jigs in PB&J with a
green pumpkin Eakins’ craw for a trailer. Fish the jig slowly and thoroughly
on these banks paying close attention to any cover you find near the point
where the channel makes initial contact with the bank.
Lead Hill to Power site: The stick bait bite continues to be really strong
up the river, from K-Dock on up you will likely catch a mixed bag of bass,
walleye and white bass on flat mixed rock banks with isolated cover. A few
fish are being caught on wiggle warts and other crank baits on deeper chunk
rock and mixed rock banks, fish the crankbait from 4’ - 8’ deep
parallel to the shore running the crankbait into whatever cover is on the
bank. An Eakins’ jig fished on channel swing banks will produce several
bites as well, Missouri craw with a green pumpkin Chomper Jig trailer has
been the most effective combination, make several pitches to each piece of
cover and fish the jig very slowly to be effective.
