Arkansas Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Bull Shoals 03/10/06:
Dam area to Lead Hill: The fish are starting to move out of
deep water and toward their traditional pre – spawn staging locations;
Jewel 5/16 oz. and 7/16 oz. spider jigs in PB&J or green pumpkin / green
flash matched up with a 4” Chomper jig trailer have been extremely
productive from 15’ – 25’ deep on main lake and secondary
chunk rock points and flats. Maintain bottom contact throughout the retrieve
and pay close attention to any rock, wood or other cover you may come in
contact with on the bottom, the fish are holding tight to this cover and
will hit the jig when it comes over the cover.
Lead Hill to Power site: The fish appear to have made a major move this
past week above Lead Hill; wiggle warts, bandits and Norman deep N’s
have all been catching fish on chunk rock banks and secondary points in the
major creek arms. Parallel these banks 6’ – 8’ deep and
run your crankbait into whatever cover you may find on the bottom. An Eakins’ jig
in PB&J with an Eakins craw is very effective as well on clam days; look
for the fish to be on channel swing banks holding tight to either wood or
rock cover.
