Hi Folks! This is Ron Schneider with this week’s
fishing report.
The lake has dropped slightly &
water temperature is in the mid to upper 80’s.
On Bull Shoals the fishing in general
is just fair. There is some early morning top water action for
Bass. Best baits are slower moving ones
like Pop-R’s, Chug Bugs, or Spit’n Image.
There is some Crappie action
around brush piles, try live minnows, Crappie tube baits, or Garland
Swimmin minnows.
White Bass are half way back
in the creek arms, try spooning them in the mornings, with fish under
the Shad schools in 50’ to 60’ of water.
The best action is for Walleye.
Best technique is trolling lead core line in 28’ to 36’
of water. Best baits are Hot-N-Tots or Reef Runner Rip Shad in purple
colors. Also try jigging spoons a little deeper, in 40’ to 48’
of water. Best times are 10:00AM until 2:00 PM.
Report #2
Report compiled by Bryan Bochert, guide, and the gang
at TMR 417 273 4859
Water temperature in the Theodosia area
is in the mid 80's and the water's stained.
Walleye were the most active
this past week. Main lake channel swing points and submerged humps were
the best places to fish. Look for These walleye in 28 - 38 feet of water.
Troll worm harnesses or crankbaits to catch these walleye.
Bass are deep and shallow.
On windy days fish secondary points with a carolina rig or a heavy spinnerbait
or throw a lipless crankbait on flat banks. If it's calm and sunny fish
main lake channel swing points with a spoon, grub , or a crankbait.
If you find a lure
that will catch these bass try using the same lure and color in different
sizes it all depends on what the fish want.
This could be the difference between 3 fish or 20 fish.
These bass will suspend off the ends of the point or over the river
channel when they are inactive when they are feeding
look for them to push the shad closer to the points.
Crappie have slowed down
a little. Use your electronics to find them schooled along bluff banks
or suspended around brush. Live bait is hard to beat but you can cover
more water with crankbaits and jigs.
Catfish are being caught
on trotlines set in deep coves and along river channel banks. Set your
lines above the thermocline and use a variety of live and fresh cut
baits.
Remember to keep only what
you can eat and release the rest for another day. Rick Culver of Wilderness
Trail does the research for this report and the writing of this report.
