Arkansas Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Bull Shoals 12/04/06
Dam area to Lead Hill: The
best bite has been on pea gravel points and roll offs with either a
Jewel football and spider jig or a Chompers’ ultra tube. The best
colors on the jigs have PB&J or watermelon / purple flash both with
a green pumpkin Chompers’ jig trailer and in the tube, green pumpkin
and pumpkin seed have been effective. With either bait maintain bottom
contact through out the retrieve from 15’ – 30’ deep
and pay close attention to any wood or rock cover you bring the bait
across. Spotted Bass can be caught on War Eagle spoons and Chompers’
drop shot worms in and around schools of shad on bluff ends and deep
points on both the main lake and in the major creek arms.
Lead Hill to Power site: There
is still a fair spinnerbait and crankbait bite toward the back of many
creek arms in the upper half of the lake. You will need to run a War
Eagle Screaming Eagle in spot remover or a watermelon Storm Wiggle Wart
tight to the bank and into any wood cover you find in order to trigger
strikes. The more reliable bite has been to fish a brown or PB&J
Eakins’ jig with a green pumpkin Eakins craw on channel swing
banks toward the backs of the major creek arms. Run back into creeks
looking for the last channel swing, fish the Eakins jig from the bank
out the channel paying close attention to the area where the channel
swings tightest to the bank.
