Norfork Lake Arkansas
fishing reports

Lake Report Provided by:blackburnsresort@centurytel.net
The weather has been very cool for several days but the water
temperature has been just over 50 degrees. We were fortunate to not get flooded
like Dallas and snow like the midwest and east coast. Our normal high is
in the mid 60's and low in the high 30's to low 40's. It will warm up very
quickly now.
We have received timely rains and the lake has come up about
4 feet and our loading ramp is now useable. We are lower than normal but
it has not hurt fishing or lake accessibility at blackburn's. Fishing is
now in the full spring mode. Blackburn's brush piles are full of fish.
There is a map of them in the game room. Mark them when you check in.
Stripers are now in their simulated spawn
and are on the flat banks after dark as I predicted earlier. Position your
boat as far from the bank as you
can cast. Use the 5-in suspending rogue and slow roll it back to the boat.
Giant fish are being taken.
Walleye are finished spawning and the males
can be caught on a weighted hook with an Arkansas shiner super fluke cast
to the bank in the creeks. Females
are suspending and are hard to catch. Bink's and I went fishing Thursday
night and caught some nice walleye and some hybrids in the 12-14 lb. range.
Also we caught some nice stripers.
Bass are in the creeks in off-colored water
and can be caught with white grubs and flukes. They are mixed in with the
white bass.
White bass are in full spawn in the creeks
and can be caught with white grubs. Fish in the 2-3 lbs range are being
caught with little difficulty. You can
also try a roadrunner. Remember catch and release. It will grow on you.
