Norfork Lake Arkansas fishing reports

06/18/06:

REPORT SPONSORED BY THE ANGLERS HEADQUATERS ON LAKE NORFORK HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS. THE REPORT WAS COMPILED BY CRANFIELD JUNCTION BAIT AND TACKLE 870 492 5141

We finally got some much needed rain 1.5 inches.

The water temp is still in the low 80's. There is still a top water bite early in the morning, throw a spook, pop -R, or chugbug. Then later in the day you'll have to go deep with a jig or carolinarig. But keep a topwater handy because the spots push the shad up anytime.

The walleye are down 28-34ft on the flats, points and don't overlook channel ends.

The stripers are 40-60ft. Deep.

As for the crappie they are 14-18ft. Down on the flats in 24-30ft. After dark try a black&blue singlespin.

Till next week Good Fishing!!!!!! 6-18-06

Both lakes have dropped slightly this past week.

Water temperature is in the upper 70’s.

On Lake Norfork , the Crappie are on a good bite at 25’ around brush piles, and live minnows have been the best bait.

Best Bass action has been at night, best lures have been Spider Jigs, Salt Craws, or 8” worms.

Walleye action has been fair to good, jigging spoons or crawler harness rigs have been best.

Stripers have been active early and late in the day, with some top water action towards the back of the creek arms. Best lures are the smaller ones like Spook Jr, Chug Bugs, or Rooster tail type baits.

Bluegill action is still hot, with 6’ to 20’ the best depths, and live Crickets have been the hot bait
