Norfork Lake Arkansas Fishing
Reports
07/23/06:
Bass: DEEP, DEEP, DEEP WATER.
Better go 35 to 45 ft to catch any size now. the surface temp is over
90 degrees. Jigs and Worms have worked best lately. Jigs, use Jewel's
new 1/2oz Black/Blue Flash with a Yamamoto Double Tail trailer with
either of the following colors: Black Blue Flake or Purple with Emerald
Flake. The worm fishermen have had good success on Red worms with either
Gold or Silver Flake. Still some guys catching bass on Larew salt craws,
too. A few in the 5 to 6lb range have been caught. the majority of the
catches have been small fish in the 1 1/2 lb to 3 lb range...
Stripers: Picking up lately. The stripers
have been in about 45 to 65 foot of water down by the damn mainly. Either
troll with Blue/White or Chart/White Road Runners 3/4 oz to 3oz and
matching hyper striper tails...Spoons have also been fairly productive
for stripers, hybrids and some white bass. Binks Spoons have done well
lately.
Walleyes: 30 to 45 foot deep now. the trollers
have been using Reef Runners, Hot-n-tots, Glass Shad Raps and Storm
Swim baits. Local Guides Have done well lately. They have been catching
some
nice stripers in the 15 to 20 lbs range. Binks Guide service has been
spooning them up too. Bink has reported some nice striper catches too
along with some Walleyes!
Catfish: slowed down a bit. This hot weather
has moved them deeper. The best bait has been large shinners, turkey
livers or cut shad.

The lake dropped to 549.6 this week almost a foot from last week.
The water temp also rose with three days above 100 to
the mid 80's early and there were some reports of 90-91 in the evening.
There is still a topwater bite early and late in the afternoon.Try
jigging spoons in white, silver or chartruse in 30-45 ft.when you see
baitfish and you can catch Whites, hybrids, walleye, largemouth and
even a smallmouth.
As for the nite bite worms- tomato red and red/silverfleck
has been working along with a good jig bite. Don't forget the singlespin.
Till next week Good Fishing and take along plenty of water when it's
Hot !!!!!!!!!!!!!
