Norfork Lake Arkansas Fishing Reports

08/07/06:

Report compiled by John Richeson, guide, Cranfield Junction 870 492 5141

Bass: the water temp is in the 90's. The bass are in deeper water now. 35 to 50 foot range. Best place to find them is on main lake points and rocky ridges. Jewel Jigs, Last Cast Dragon Jigs with matching trailers from Yamamot o or Zoom have worked best. At Night is the most active bite now. Use black/blue colored skirts(and some red or purple in it if possible) with blue or maroon/red trailers. Worms are also the best now that the water is so warm. Red with Silver or Gold Flake...

OH-some early morning and late afternoon bite is still occuring around main bluff walls using Spooks and Sammys

Walleye: The walleyes have picked up. doing well on them, some in the 8 lb range!! Lots in the 3 to 4 lb range. Spoons have done well. Binks Spoons are doing best. But others have also worked... the trollers have been using Reef Runners, Hot-n-Tots, Glass Shad raps and ofcourse the old standby nightcrawler with crawler harnesses. Look for the walleyes in the 35 ot 45 foot range from Robinson point to the damn.

Stripers: Starting to really pick up now that the water temp is hot! Thosse stripers are in deep water. up to 65 foot deep! Most productive baits have been spoons, (binks spoons, etc)and the trollers have been using Rapala TD-11's, Road Runners (blue/white and Chart/white) and some success with large minnows and shad.

Crappie. Get in the brush piles 20 to 30 foot deep. Minnows and Crappie spoons doing good for now.

Bream: MAN THE BREAM ARE HOT! Nice size bream are being caught on Crickets and worms in the 18 to 25 foot range. Some very nice sized red-ears with them!!

Well another hot week has past and they say we're in for another hot one this week. The lake has dropped a foot this week to 547.8 and the water temp is still the same,84 early and the upper 80's late in the day.

We still have a topwater bite and you're liable to catch anything. Then you'll have to fish down 40ft And you can catch

Stripers, hybrids, whites, kentucky's and smallies and an ocasional walleye or two.The nite bite will pick up this week with the full moon.

Till next week Good Fishing!!!!!!!!! 8-6-06
Steve
