North Fork And White Rivers in Arkansas fishing reports

After the much needed high water the river is clean (hardly any moss) and fishing good. The browns are on the move to start the motions of spawn and the rainbows are showing great color. The browns are fairly scattered right now as they start to make their way upstream but that also means that this is a pretty good time to get into a trophy fish.

Right now the rainbows are still holding in the tailouts and lower parts of riffles before sunrise but as soon as the sun hits the water and the bugs become more active they will move all over the riffle. Fishing early with Soft Hackles is producing the better numbers of fish but the farther in the day be ready to nymph.

The stoneflies are still very thick around the islands making that a big go-to pattern right now and for the coming months. We are still dropping small nymphs off of the stone like Hare's Ears, Princes, and Copper Johns but the stone is the best producer most days.
